Vented Barn

© 2012  Michael Fiveson

An old barn with a very bad roof sits in ruin. There must be a variety of birds who live in this beautiful structure. It appears that the barn itself is quite solid except for that roof which is rotted and falling away. I wonder if this farmer is experiencing difficult times, like so many other land owners.

  1. Lovely barn just the way it is….I love to enlarge your photos to the max and study the details….that 2×4 holding up the fence on the right, for instance, just adds to the whole scene. And this has to be an updated barn because there are tires leaning against it, not wagon wheels 🙂

  2. So. Absolutely. Great! What a find, Mike! Looks like something Hollywood built and aged down for some flick.

Love the (obviously) hinged hay loft door and the overall design. Must have gotten a lot of attention when it was first built (by a prosperous farmer, no doubt). Interestingly, there seem to be no roof shakes littering the ground.

  3. This reminds me of my Grandparent’s barn. I loved to take photos of the roof from the inside before my brother fixed it up and reroofed it a few years back. This is a “farm girl” barn for sure!

  4. One of my favorite…all time ever, AWESOME subjects….our old barns across this nation are falling down by the day…If not for photographs like these…we will forever lose this piece of Americana! Thank you for sharing
