Yuma Territorial Prison

I recently toured this long ago closed prison and I must say it was shocking and ghostly. Incredibly, some women were sent here for adultery. I have a few photos I will post in the coming days. In the meantime, read about it here.

  1. I agree: these prisons can be scary. I always feel that when I visit the former Gestapo-prison in Cologne [nowadays known as Ell-De Haus]. It sends shivers down my spine.

  2. A tough, tough place would be an understatement. The prison was recently featured in a repeat episode of Ghost Adventures on the Travel Channel.

  3. Mike, there is a old Prison down in Philadelphia,Pa that looks very similar to this one. Named the Eastern State Penitentiary. It’s a old Prison and kinda spooky to be there. It’s known to be Haunted by Al Capone and other Spirits from the past.

  4. I’ve been watching a lot of old TV westerns lately — it’s cool to see a real-life place that’s often mentioned on the likes of Tales of Wells Fargo and Gunsmoke! 😉

    • Yep. Or, I reckon so, as Josie Wales would put it.
The modern day tales of Wells Fargo is about a very large corporation screwing the little guy every chance they get. More of a horror show than a Western.
