Once upon a time this would have been a comfortable home, where your bedroom window may have looked upon the razor wire at the Canon City State Penitentiary. While the prison is still thriving, this old home sits abandoned.

Right? I imagine the assistant warden probably slept well at night, unless he was a mean SOB and hated by many.

That is a good question, Ba. While not a tall building, I suspect that those on the upper floor may well be able to see at least part of that old house.

I am assuming that this was a man who got to his position through hard work and dedication. This view might well have served as an aphrodisiac for him 😉

Abandoned…like not used for anything…not even a museum…? Wow….

There is a museum not far from that house. The house was a bit of a wreck and my guess is that some bureaucrat decided it was too expensive to maintain.

Too bad it’s unoccupied. I think much of the Old Max prison complex is on the historic preservation list.

Maybe they figure since it’s just rotting in place it is somehow preserved, or at least dying naturally.
