Looks like we will be getting some of that cold, gray and wet stuff coming from your direction this week. I guess I will have to enjoy your autumn colors… ours will turn to brown just as soon as the storm hits. Rats!
It is snowing right now. 9 inches predicted. Too friggin early but maybe it will help contain the tragic fires just to the west of me. Lot of ash here….piles of it.
Places that had volcanic ash said it becomes like concrete soon as water hits it. Wildfire ash, I don’t know – maybe similar? You might want to call the CSU Extension Office for your county and ask the question. They’ve probably fielded this question to where they may have an answer.

Fantastic color against a bland sky.
Hope the snow slows the fires, at least dampen down the smoke plume.

The bland sky is a fire sky. I wonder what this layer of ash on my yard will do to it, long term. There is ash everywhere, and lots of it.

I read somewhere that in small amounts it can act like a fertilizer, so perhaps next year my yard will be green and lush.

How much snow, how cold. The cold, it was brutal. Unfortunately, my cats aren’t the heater kind.

7 1/2 inches here and -5 this morning. Way too early for all that, eh.

Don’t you know it. But, it’s keeping with the tradition of a snowy Halloween.
