I cherish this dog, and as I watch her age I worry about her and love her all the harder. I also have the sense she is doing the same, in touch with fleeting time. My big baby.
Time goes so fast. I understand. Loving even harder and longer is what we do.
I realized that when we brought home our fourth golden that I knew the drill. But yet, Brodie will be 2 years his week and I can never think about what the loss that follows all of the happiness and fun and genuine affection that is returned by our dog. I think dogs help us live in the moment. Helps me anyway. All goodness for your Pumpkin from Brodie.
Blessings to sweet Lady Pumpkin ❤ I know why you love and cherish her this much ❤ We only can enjoy every single moment together – as long as we can.. ❤
Such a lovely girl, I know the feeling so well. My “boy” is 9 now, I can’t bear the thought of not having him around, Making life good and easy for them is the best we can do. ❤
Yeah, anyone with a dog they love deeply knows just what we mean, you and I. I just got home and had a long and sweet snuggle with Pumpkin and now Judy is having a play session with her. Soon we will have our daily mile walk with her. She loves that.
We walk Tide twice a day, he is so spoiled rotten. Some people think I am crazy, but they can’t relate to the unconditional love of these pets. Pumpkin is beautiful, I love Goldens.
Awww…I used to have a black Labrador many years ago – called Diccan. My ex took him when we split up as I was working long hours and she wasn’t (lazy cow) so she was in a better position to be with him most of the time. Still miss the dog, but not the girl….
Awww sweet Pumpkin, you are a sweet star! I worry about Bear too Mike! He is going to be 10 this summer and is showing his age more and more! We love our fur kids! Kisses Pumpkin! Love ya from Bear and his mama
Yeah, Bear is getting up there too. Pumpkin will be 12 on Halloween which is the average age Goldens live to be, with a little luck. You know about my love because you have it too.
She is beautiful. There is something special about an elderly dog, so much loyalty and friendship in those greying whiskers. We must cherish our friends while we still have them.
Yes, so hard. Snowy has his vaccinations coming up soon. They told me last time he was there (about 7 weeks ago) that he needed to lose weight for his health. I hope he has, but will be scared to put him on the scales! Being overweight is as big a risk factor for premature death in dogs, as in humans, if not more so. Pumpkin looks in very good shape. We need to stop fretting about them don’t we? It is hard though.
It is hard not to fret. I am a feckin fretter. Pumpkin weighs 85 lbs which is a lot for a female golden but she is not fat, just big. Tell Snowy I said to stay well and stop snacking.
He says he will stay well as best he can, but not snacking? Try tell his human Grandma to stop giving him treats and see where that will get you. Nowhere! His main meals keep getting smaller and smaller and he still puts on weight. Bad Grandma!!
Yeah, it hurts and I have to stay in the moment and celebrate her continuing presence while I can. This is our soul dog also and what an enormous gift she is. Thanks for the look and compassion.
Your big baby looks exactly like my dog Tasha who is 13 years right now. We found her in one of local animal shelters when she was six years old. Time flies so quickly. I understand how you feel about your beautiful dog. Say hello to her from Tasha and me.
Very sweet Kaya and I’m thrilled that Tasha is 13. Time does zip right by and as you may know accelerates with age. Thank you for this wonderful and thoughtful comment.
Dogs are here to teach humans the greatest trick of all, how to be loving, kind, loyal and grateful- in other words, how to be decent. I don’t think I’d want to live in a world without dogs. I wish the best for you and the lovely Pumpkin.
Pumpkin !!! That’s who I needed to see this morning. Hi sweetness ❤
I know how you must worry, it's hard not to. We love them so much. I would but my nose into Buddies soft ear, take a deep breath and say, "remember". Makes me teary, but I do remember. xo
Yes, you have it exactly. Pumpkin has kind of rebounded in terms of energy and although the clock is ticking I am living in the moment. My big sweet baby.
Time, fleeting time!

The cow took the dog and poor Jimmy continued to work all those hours. You were cowless and dogless but you had some coin. The end.
