During a short hike in Wyoming I turned to find this group on a ridge a few hundred yards away. As I shot two frames, they vanished quickly away from view. What a sight.
It was breathtaking and very quick. I turned around, we looked at each other and they retreated down the backside of that ridge. Good thing I had camera in hand, although not a long lens. Thanks, eh.
It was beautiful, and quite a thrill. I would love a hug from my grandmothers, one of whom died when I was just 13. It’s a good thought, and I thank you, Robyn.
Estes park is 50 miles west of me and at the doorstep of Rocky Mountain National Park. In the town of Estes Park there are wild moose, elk and deer everywhere. They sit on lawns, inhabit parks, hang out on the golf course, and are as much a nuisance as a marvel. Come on out, I’ll take you on a great tour.
🙂 so interesting!! I’ve been realizing lately just how gigantic our little country actually is, and how rich and diverse its ecosystems. I knew that on paper, but being out here reading and viewing makes it more real.
Great picture. Sure they are elk, they could be elephants, camels or yeti

Right place, right time. I like it when wildlife is cooperative like this. 🙂

Me too. I’m telling you there were maybe 5 seconds from spotting them before they vanished. I’m a quick draw shooter.

Whenever I ever get experiences like that, I feel certain I just got a hug from all my grandmothers…. How beautiful for you…

Looked like Comanche to me.

As in Native Americans? That would be even cooler than elk.

We just watched the TV series Texas Rising, so had Amerindians on my mind, I guess.
