Love the way she stands out there surrounded by her handmaids. The way you’ve managed to highlight the one powerful image but clearly show the other trees is striking.
I could go on about that Guardian. Ancient, and with the wisdom of time, able to sense all natural events from great distances. In the natural world all things are tied together, and modern man cannot hear that universal voice. Native people can. Some anyhow. Those who can’t, live feeling only loss. Those who can, hear a wail, and the shriek grows ever louder. The guardian knows that the earth is doomed, and will vanish before we do. For now he protects, and remembers.
Looks like Goliath all right, maybe a a broken and beaten victim lies at it’s feet. I big-afied to see all that was in your awesome lens that day. The mountains popped up and made me smile like a hidden surprise.
“made me smile like a hidden surprise”
I think there is a boomdee poet lurking.
As I approached that large guardian I twice heard the words “come no closer.” They were not said out loud but instead were heard in my head and they were real and respected. I came no closer.
Hey Mike, I’ve been in FB tonight and spotted this link you might fancy. All of these photo’s were taken in Canada. The Ukrainian church and community hall make me a little sad. The blue sky behind the lone school house on the hill was my favourite. The barn with Aurora Borealis in the night sky is also stunning.
I wonder if they’ve used the solar powered Xmas lights. They use them at a campground near my old house too. Handy when you want to light trees on an acreage.
Desolate looking. Nice emotion in that pic.
