Odd Egg In

Recently, while walking Pumpkin I found a bird egg that was just resting on the grass, nowhere near a tree. I noticed a hairline crack, but it appeared viable, with no liquid leaking. I cupped it gently and upon arriving home I placed it in a nest that I found just a day earlier.

wary eyed robinThis is the same robin I posted yesterday, giving me just one wary eye. After she took off for a bit, I quickly climbed up a ladder and grabbed this picture.

odd egg inAha! Two gorgeous blue eggs and the white one I placed in the nest. If the odd egg hatches I will be thrilled to death. I may then be known as the man who saves birds. Do you think she will continue to lay eggs? How long do they incubate?

    • Thanks for taking the time Jude. I thought a birder out there would just know off the top of their head. I’ll look to see if she produces more. Perhaps with the white egg she may think she is done.

  2. I’m looking forward to updates. It really would be cool if the egg hatches. The cracks a bit of a worry but there are now many many people willing it to be a happy ending.. šŸ™‚
