That sounds wonderful. Though living 10 minutes from the beach makes the Summer more than bearable…I’ve lived in so many different weather/geological locations. California, New England, Georgia…Mountains, Country, City, and now Coastal. I love different aspects of each…just can’t seem to find a place with all! 🙂
The trick is to have a winter home and a summer home, which I do not, and never will. Next choice is to have a comfortable home where we are loved. Score!
Now that is really cool! It took 10 years? What, he was thinking of new mathematical formulas along the way? But what an amazing job and I love the steps. It is breathtaking, really. Thanks for sending this Kim.
That’s the truth…I’m praying it’s only 53 years for me..my birthday is soon 🙂 I think that 2014 is gonna be a really big year of change and goodness coming my way!
Mike, I’m curious if these old structures are protected in a Williamsburg, VA or Appomatox, VA type place to visit or are they subject to vandalism and age. This is a wonderful structure!!
They are in an old mining town called Saint Elmo. There is still a general store there and many tourists 4 wheel up to the town. I believe there are still a few people living up there, but I do not know if any of the buildings have taken on historical protected status. It is googelable, but I have not googled it. And good afternoon Laurie.
It took me a while to realize that a lot of images could be enlarged. I now try to remember to add a line to my posts telling folk to ‘click on an image for a higher quality enlargement’. Whether they do that or not I have no idea, but I am sure the smaller images that are ‘crunched’ to fit the blog’s width lose quality in the process.
I could live there.

Me too, but only in the summer. It’s way up in the mountains and would be crazy cold in the winter.

This ole yankee gal doesn’t do “Cold” very well anymore. I’m spoiled with living in the tropical South.

Ah, but how you would enjoy a summer with no humidity and perfect weather…

I’m assuming it took that long because of it being done “off the grid”…and by one person for the most part. It’s amazing. wow.

Good things do take time. Sometimes 10 years, or 52, or even 64.
