Great shot! I love the patterns they make. Waterways locally are either canals — many of them unused for a long time and choked with lily pads — and dammed areas of rivers where water lilies thrive. Which in turn helps the swans, geese and other water fowl to survive. In northern lakes, they are — I’m not making this up — the favoried snack food of moose who will swim considerable distances to munch on water lily. I prefer coffee and a good cookie, myself 🙂
LOL. It would be great fun to watch a moose swim to a lily pad. These pads are in a park and I just missed the frogs who were hibernating by the time I took this. Speaking of coffee, my sweet wife is making a coffee cake as I type. It will be done in 15 minutes, hot and fresh. She loves me.
This works well in black and white – I would not have thought that it would, but it is the shapes and not the colour that you see here.

Thanks Mary. Yes, it is all about contrast and shapes and I think it also has an abstract feel.

Yo Adrian. It is one of those images that was a total wash in color but took on some life in b&w. Nice to hear from you, and thanks.
