Fishing in Port Aransas, Texas, was quite a bit of fun and I caught some big salt water catfish which I promptly threw back. At one point this huge ship was making it’s way into the Gulf and was much more impressive than the bony catfish. A quick google search:

That is a big ship – to state the obvious. 🙂 Difficult to imagine something this size being tossed around like a toy in rough seas but it would be of course. It looks very vulnerable to being snapped in the middle, given its length. The creaking and the groaning as all that steel is stressed in a storm must be quite unsettling. 😐

Double hulled but that would not matter if it is grabbed by a rogue wave. It would scare the hell out of me to be on it, even though it is massive.

Hi Mike,
As I’m not into fishing, that’s what I like to do (in the jetty) in Port A and also from the city park: watch the big ships come in and go out.
Best regards from southern Texas,
Pit

What a magnificent vessel! No offence to the catfish but I’m glad the boat got to be the subject matter of your photograph.

It is far and away the largest ship I have ever been that close to. Magnificent indeed.
