Some homes just look creepy and this large boarded up beauty is no exception. Found in rural northern Colorado and enhanced by wicked shadows, this house says do not enter.
You drew me in with the title of this one Mike, and as usual… you do not disappoint! I don’t remember if I’ve mentioned this before, but I really enjoy zooming in on some of the detail of your work. This one gave me lots to zoom in on!
And I was hoping you would see it and knew that you would like it, given your appreciation of fantasy. What did you think of the movie Pan’s Labyrinth?
Hmm, I liked Pan’s Labyrinth, but it’s not one of my favorites though. I love Terry Gilliam’s films. The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus is great and also Tideland, very surreal and well made.
Pan’s was really kind of dark and did not have a happy ending. I know you like happy endings. Still, I thought Pan’s was haunting and the music has stayed in my head all these years.
It does have a Victorian or Western flair to it. It probably was a nice home not too long ago. So you ain’t scared, eh? I’ll see what I can dig up out of my archives….
I guess I’m just weird or love to fix things up too much… All I see is a house with beautiful bones that could look amazing with some TLC and hard work! Oh, how I’d love to try! 🙂
This photo does indeed emit a great sense of eeriness, but also such beautiful in the decay.

Oh, I agree, it’s spooky. I’m trying to imagine it lit up with warmth and people and inner light, and it still looks rather severe to me.

That shadow, I think, completed it.

I don’t know, Mike, this house is too darned cute to be sinister. Although that weird circle thing on the first floor window is a little intimidating.

I bet that place was the house from Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘The Birds’ – and that round hole is for vicious homing pigeons!

Looks like a place Norman Bates would love. The way you captured it with the shadow of the tree makes it look really creepy.

Norman Bates may well have lived there as a child, as an apprentice to insanity. Thanks Robin.
