Thank You Veterans

A belated but heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our brave veterans who left family and the comfort of home to serve our nation, sometimes at great peril.

My wife and I are both veterans and met in the Navy many, many years ago. Not only was I lucky enough to score my life long companion, she is also my best friend and lover. And I have a great sense of pride that comes from having served.

Thank you fellow veterans.

  1. Hi Mike,
I’m eternally grateful especially for those American soldiers – now long-time veterans – who allowed me to grow up in freedom from Nazi and Communist terror by liberating my native Germany from the Nazis and later defending it against Communism. But I’ll also not forget the younger American soldiers/veterans who were and are still fighting for our freedom – this time for freedom from terrorism: Thank you all from my heart,
P.S.: Talking only of American soldiers/veterans here I don’t want to diminish in any way the efforts of the many allied soldiers from other countries.

    • Pit, this is really an astounding and profound comment coming from someone who grew up in Germany. It also goes right to my core as a Jewish person who would not be alive today if the incredible world saving heroes of WW ll did not march into hell and crawl thru unspeakable terror to liberate humanity. Your comment means the world to me and touches me in a deep place. Thank you.

  2. Thank you so much for your service Mike, both you and your wife. Vets get me choked up, I am always touched by the sacrifice of them and their families. My Dad was a Navy guy too, lied about his age, I think he was 16 when he joined, that’s where he learned photography. Looks like the Navy provides life long skills and mates. Happy Veterans Day to you and your wife Mike.

  3. Thanks to you and your wife and all veterans al over the world for givings us freedom.
Now it’s the time for education for the children of everywhere. So that they know it and never forgot and appreciated all the things young soldiers did for us.
    Thanks a lot.

  4. Thank you for posting this, and thank you and your wife for honorably serving our country. Being the wife, mother and daughter of veterans I know how special veterans are. Unquestionable loyalty to family, friend and country.

  5. Thank you so much for your good words. My husband and I are a Navy couple also. We met in the Navy, and we are still together 22 years later. There is something to be said for that common ground.

Thank you for visiting our blog. History is a special thing, so often overlooked–and as you stop and notice the gravestones, and wonder, so too we look at old structures and marvel at their past.

    Good blog–keep it up.
