In rural Colorado you only use enough paint to obscure the old message. Here, an old cleaners has its sign changed into gibberish, but the paint savings was significant.

Yes! I have seen many zebras up that way and did not understand it. There were there for a touch up I know now 🙂

This makes me think of Aberdeen in Scotland. The indigenous inhabitants, Aberdonians, are known for their, shall we say, thriftiness. A true Aberdonian would commend the rural Colorado folk (what are they called? Coloradians?) on their economy with the paint.
