An interesting barn appears to be finished in some sort of ceramic looking tile. I wonder what the small lookout tower on the roof might be for, other than providing a great view of cattle, rustlers, or coyotes.
I just want to say how much I love your blog. I really enjoy those pictures, because there’s always a meaning behind them. I don’t write many comments because it takes a while for my phone to upload all those pages (you have to login and everything) but I always take a look at your posts and they bring a little something special to my day.
So thank you and keep up with your great work!
I don’t know if it’s the angle of the photo, but the rooftop looks a bit tilted to one side. Interesting looking barn, Mike. And, it has a huge door! 🙂
It has a huge door because inside is a huge bull that weighs 6 tons. Known locally as ‘El Huevos’, that bull will have sex with pick up trucks, horses, and fools on motorcycles. Personally, I like to be wooed a little bit before I give it up.
Interesting… Tiles should be better than paint… much more clean… you maybe smile, but reminded me, during one of the kings of Babylon, the palace was covered by the enamelled tiles that were excavated, and hundreds of enamelled tiles were disinterred… How I wished to see this palace… Thank you dear Mike, it was a nice photograph. And also made me travel in time. Love, nia
This has to be the most interesting shot i have ever seen…where do i start..the grunge tower, the maroon patched roof, the vertical patterns admist the horizontal upper part and then the beautiful tiled lower half….complete with the shades of blue up and greens around its a collage of textures ..what a beauty
You have a great eye Soma. Yes, there are a few things going on with this barn that make it unusual and visual.
Thanks, as always, for the look and comment.
You should start an affiliate of the LDW – The Legion of Barn Whores (LBW – no wait that’s a cricket term). What about NAABF – North American Association of Barn Fanciers. Bet you can tink of something better!
Yes Adrian, I for sure don’t want to confuse anyone with a freaking cricket term. LOL. Do you know when the last time cricket was played in America? NEVER.
Maybe, although moonshine is a might bigger in a place like….Georgia. El Huevos…….I refer to huevos as meaning balls, in the testicular sense. Is that what you are referencing?
Yes! “Shine on Georgia Moon Corn Whiskey” for starters! As for El Huevos, I was referring to the giant guard bull in the barn with an affinity for anything that moves or stands still, from an earlier comment. Thanks for educating me though, I always thought huevos meant eggs.
Well it does mean eggs, which is slang for balls, hence huevos. Kind of western slang. I thought you may have meant the bull. I would damn sure sit with a jug of moonshine listening to fiddles play. real or imagined.
Hardly!! I get a kick out of reading comments – people are so quick witted and funny sometimes. I was jumping into someone else’s conversation…sorry about that! 🙂
If you didn’t know this photo was taken in Colorado you would swear it was the Texas hill country. One of your best shots, sir. Glad you didn’t take a bullet for your efforts!!
Interesting and pretty cool 😀 Looks like the house is “sleeping”. I always watch the windows & doors on a house/ barn, it s like you can see faces then – which are scared or smiling for example 😀
Cool old barn

That’s very interesting. I grew up in Texas on a large farm and I’ve never seen a barn like that one! And I’ve seen a lot of barns in my time. LOL

Yeah it is unique to my barn search as well. I wonder what those cool decorative tiles might be?

This looks as if it has been designed by a very creative thinker. It has a lot of interest and I really like the little shed perched up on top.

This is another situation where I drove onto personal property to get the right light and then flew out of there before I got shot. Worth it I guess.

That barn is in pretty good shape for it’s age. There is an organization here that is about old barn preservation. Nice shot. 🙂

That lookout tower was to keep an eye out for the sheriff in case he came looking for the moonshine. It’s not needed now that they have El Huevos….
