I am drawn to old rotting doors like a fly to food. Buzzing around the industrial end of my town I find the occasional gem, replete with rusting hinges.
This is the right door. Behind it are all the wonderful bits of rusted metal, tree roots, bits of old engines, shells, broken glass and crockery, twigs and other delightful detritus that I have collected and then had to part with on my many moves from here to there and back again. This is the door that opens up to reveal my lost collections. Definitely this one.
If you would like me to retrieve any of that for you just let me know. I will force my way in and if by chance I come across my youth, I shall retrieve that too.
Doors, windows, they are always so interesting for me too dear Mike. You are lucky you can find some old doors, I loved this photograph. What a great stories hiding behind there… Thank you, have a nice weekend, with my love, nia
The hinges are great….as is the texture of the wood, but my eyes are drawn to the miss-matched, asymmetrical placement of the bricks surrounding the door. I like it, but can’t help wondering why it was done so. Nice shot Mike. I like things that make me wonder.
So not fair! I am having a love affair with your doors!!! Today is a beautiful day, I think I’ll go down to the shady side of town and find my own doors to photograph. I’ve been meaning to do that for a long time anyway. Great photo.
Great shot… interesting material you are finding! Down here we say “drawn like a fly to sh*t!” I know… we country folks say it like we see it! Keep your camera handy… you have an architectural eye!
The door, the floor, the bricks, the hinges, that whole photograph is very beautiful, you have a real eye for these pictures.

Hell no, don’t do that! My old collections are much easier to manage in my imagination and youth is soooooooooo over rated!

It does seem that way, perhaps it’s a texture thing. Thanks.

Nice! Seems the guy who built this ran out of orange bricks and had to complete one side of the wall with red bricks? LOL

Yes, there is something odd about the brick pattern for sure.
