Pumpkin Groomed

When Putty Nosed Pumpkin gets groomed, she knows she is even prettier than usual and she is like an 86 lb stuffed animal, soft and cuddly. She gives me all the snuggles I want, and comes back for more. I love her profoundly. Note the grass turning green which is payback for surviving another winter. Life is good…my wife, son, and Pumpkin love me.

Looking like a lion who is busy meditating, sweet Pumpkin allows silly daddy to take yet another picture. As I write this she is standing next to me looking for a touch and giving me many kisses. I do touch her, lovingly and frequently. I adore my big beautiful Pumpkin.

When it’s 20 degrees (F) outside why not find a ray of sunshine inside, thought my clever Pumpkin. She went back to sleep as soon as I was done. Silly daddy!

In addition to Pumpkin’s putty colored nose, she has a tongue that sometimes does not fit in her mouth. This, of course, happens after she has exerted herself and is panting. We walk 1.1 mile(s) to a neighborhood park that does not allow dogs. That being the case, when we do go in we don’t have to worry about other dogs. Call me contrary.  In truth there are no other people either.  Today I counted how many times she pees on this walk and it was 6. No, she is not diabetic, just busy marking her turf. Silly putty nosed Pumpkin.

Pumpkin’s Birthday Portrait

Even though she won’t be 8 until Halloween, this was an image I could not pass up. I call this Gold on Gold, and think the leaves work well with my beautiful girl’s coat. Those of you who look at my work know how much Pumpkin means to me, and how much joy she brings to everyone she meets. Pure love, golden and forever.

Pumpkin Chillin’

Come to think of it, she chills quite a bit.Pumpkin is a very happy dog but when we go away in the motorhome she is always content and especially mellow. Here I was a bit lazy with my photo as she was sitting below the dining room table and I just shot from there, instead of getting much lower as I usually do. I think she matches the rug, floor, and wood cabinets nicely. I adore her.

September Pumpkin

Those of you who read my stuff know how much I love this dog. On Saturday we had a great off leash hike and Pumpkin took some rest on the cool grass. Not long after this photo she jumped into a lake three times. She was such a stinky mess and I had to lift all 85 lbs of her into a bath tub. Now she is beautiful again. Next time, leash on for that lake.

Fall Pumpkin

With each changing season Pumpkin requests a portrait, and although a bit early this fall, I knew it would make her happy. I wonder if she has any sense of how happy she makes me with her always cheerful, loving, and playful spirit. Every night when she is already asleep I lay next to her for a goodnight snuggle that lasts several minutes. I am deeply attached to her, and try to celebrate each moment. She will be eight on Halloween.
