The older I get, the less I know. Or maybe I’m just open to all sorts of possibilities, including the very real possibility that much of what we have been taught may not be true. This includes the notion of heaven and hell, an afterlife, even a supreme being. Much of that does not survive the logic and intelligence test for me. It may all be true, some of it may be true, or none of it. So I’ll go with a door to the afterlife, everything is in black and white, and there is an endless supply of chocolate. And women, lots of women.

Don’t pin your hopes on the women Mike, that’s definitely the men’s door…..
HA! Good to know. Then I’m not going in.
Great post Mike – great ideas. I think that the older we get it seems that we “know less” only because we are learning more – faster. As long as we keep learning we are alive. Love that door.
That too may well be true. It may also be that the older we get, the less we care. In my case, if I continue at my current pace, I may well become mute.
Thank you Terry.
hehehe. good point.
That’s a great door.. I do miss my teenage years when I knew everything.
Yes indeed. I peaked at 19 when I cared enough to argue anything.
Thank you my friend. My bike is in the garage awaiting your arrival.
in case u get in earlier than me please don’t lock yourself in, hehe, i’ll join, bring some wine and the guitar
That sounds great. I suspect I will be there waiting for you. Thanks.
one never knows. in case u will, keep the atmosphere warm in there.
Might be like a 60′s party….incense, black lights, mattresses on the floor.
Hmmm….a multiple choice test in what to believe once we get to our ripe old ages. The joke is on us once we get to a “certain” age…..ha ha….what you were taught ain’t necessarily so.
Are peeks allowed through the shutters on the sides of the door? If there is chocolate and wine, I’m good.
Chocolate and wine for breakfast. The only peeks are in the form of the dreams we have. Unknowable, until…..and then maybe unknowable as well.
Looks like a “Stephen-King-Book-Cover”
It is available for sale
I like the chocolate part. But I’m going for the men – lots of men.
Ha! Fair enough Pat. I’d have it no other way.
What a man!
Very beautiful old door. What’s behind is a ? But i am sure it’s made by craftman.
Yes, a solid old door made a long time ago.
I just knew the ‘door-whore’ would resurface sooner or later! And I guess that endless supply of women you envisage on the other side are all dipped in chocolate!
HA! Kind of like strawberry dipped chocolate except a whole lot better. More to work with. Yo, return of the door ho!
“And women, lots of women” – oh, incorrigible, you. For me it would be dogs, lots of dogs. And chocolate, too, of course!
Some women think men are dogs. But I know you mean real dogs. Yes, I would like several Goldens to add to the ambiance. Good point, but yes, women. And many.
I can’t help laughing. Maybe I shouldn’t?
You just keep on laughing, chuckles.
What a creepy-looking door.
Yes, it does look creepy, which is what I was going for so your comment is appreciated David.
PS I don’t think I even looked at the photo!
I was thinking I would get a scathing comment or two but so far nothing. hmmm.
Reblogged this on The Legion of Door Whores.
I think the Older we get the Wiser we become….and also now that we have the internet we get to view a ton of information.
True enough about the internet but I do wonder if all the social networking will lesson our ability to relate in meaningful ways.
Older=Wiser, probably.
I am not sure about that….as I just started being soicial on the internet, but so far I feel that people relate in meaningful ways…Its kind of like the new age
Pen Pal…
Pen pals used to write real letters revealing personal truths and expressing with real sentences. Not sure any of that happens with texting.
Why not, it is just a faster way of comunicating, than the pen pal way….Why do you feel people are not expressing ther personal truth with real sentences?
omg, lol, lmfao, etc, does not actually say much. All those heads buried in phones might be missing out on something, like the real world.
I must have misunderstood you….I thought you were talking about texting on WordPress…You are expressing in general people are getting away from comunicating the more common way such as by writing, talking on the phone or face to face. Texting is not a meaningful way to comunicate to you…I think you are right as to, if you spend to much time buried in phones, TV, laptop, etc…you will miss out on something like the real word.
Sorry for the misunderstanding…..perhaps I was not clear. In any event, have a great evening and thanks for the chat, eh.
LOL! your welcome…You too…:)
Hello, thank you for visiting my blog, it gave me a chance to visit your blog and it is excellent. I love all of the every day photographs you have. You should be proud. Looking forward to seeing more.
Well thank you Chris. I do have some pride about my blog, and think it’s given me a chance to express in new ways.
Hmmm….well you know I absolutely adore this door
, and I especially like the light fixture hanging above it. I also really like your use of light and shadow…but really? No color? I’m not going anywhere where everything’s in black and white no matter how much chocolate you have. Though I must say the B and W certainly works well here.
The color is in another building where you get marshmallows and strawberries, but no chocolate. Your pick.
You know, another blogger (female) called me “unabashedly mad” and it wasn’t even because of this post.
I’d prefer that your ass sticks around for a bit longer, Mike…even with thoughts of chocolate-dipped women, or whatever the last incarnation of your original words is now….
I’m not going anywhere Scott, and in truth I prefer my women and chocolate as separate treats. Yeah, I was thinking my post would generate some conversation and I guess it did, to an extent.
That’s good…and yes, separate is better in this instance…and yes, it was rather entertaining conversation…. Well done.
Thank you, thank you very much.
Why, oh why, do I read the whole damn conversation here! Can’t help myself, I reckon. Doing philosophy n’ standup again. I kind of love it.
I only do standup for a bit. It makes me tired so I sit down.
I read the whole thing too.
Our thoughts and perceptions colour our beliefs as we go through life. We can choose to make our belief as our reality. So anything is possible- a great afterlife with chocolates and lots of women for you:))
Cheers
Shakti
That is a fair comment. We are products of our upbringing as well.
Cheers.
I think I’ve learned my lesson. No “…lots of women” for me. I’ll just be over here in the corner watching. And having the occasional piece of chocolate, and glass of wine. Thanks, Mike, for another great photo. You’ve certainly contributed to the way I now look at the world.
Thanks Paul. That is a nice thing for you to say. Let’s revisit all of this in the afterlife, eh.
Somehow I get the feeling there’s no chocolate on the other side.
That works for me, but again, I have no way of knowing anything. If I leave first I’ll let you know, but only if you won’t be scared.
Ok, send me a chocolate-gram and I might change my mind.
I will deliver it personally….don’t be spooked.
I prefer dark.
It’s better for you, but thanks for telling me or you would have got whatever was on special at wherever I might be.
Great door, better imagery. If I have to go through that one I may just stay here. I think maybe I am depressed
I just saw this comment Michael. Dude, women and chocolate. And yes, wine too!
I’m eating all the chocolate I can during this life…since it’s the only one I get.
Good plan. Find pleasure wherever you can, embrace it with hunger, add two doses of passion and laughter.
Love the creepiness goin’ on here!
I go to death’s door and you go to Disney World
Somebody’s gotta do it!
I went to Disney World shortly after it opened. I was stationed in Florida at the time. There I am all clean cut, and they search me for drugs! (the drugs were in my van)
Hahaha! Good thinkin’!
