Looks top heavy to me Mike, almost as if the ground floor has sunk into the ground. Probably because the windows are half the size of the next floor up.
That would explain the four stories in the basement as well as the hobbit like people who live down there.
Houses of the genre always give me the creeps..haunted house style. lol
I too thought it had a creepy feel and up close it is falling apart with cracks and peeling paint.
Oh wow. Very cool house. A little on the scary side, but still cool.
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking too. Imagine the cost to cool or heat that place!
lol! A fortune if it’s falling apart.
For $10,000 tell me the movie where a main character said “Geology is the study of time and pressure.” No googling.

Ha! I actually do have close ups with peeling paint but I am in a campground with really bad internet and I’m lucky to get even one picture in a post.
Mutant Victorian-Disney….certainly makes a statement…..though not sure what that might be except possibly ‘look at me, I’m a burger bar’.

Ha! You are a funny guy John. It may end up being a burger bar, if not firewood. If it was mine I would wonder why, and then I would rent out rooms and bill it as a spooky place. That way I get to scare kids without being arrested.
Great idea….also I like Adrian’s sinking comment and your thoughts on hobbits…..hobbits serving burgers, now that’s a winning combination.

I suppose these old houses had a presumptuous sort of charm, but even putting aside heating bills… I’d sure hate to be the housekeeper. These old mansions, like today’s gaudy McMansions just scream conspicuous consumption to me.
Conspicuous consumption is a term I use, and understand. And I agree, enough should be enough.
It’s kind of dark and forbidding on the outside, but with all those beautiful tall windows, the rooms must be full of lovely, natural light.

Interesting architecture. I thought it was tudor-style but after googling it, I realized it wasn’t it at all. Whatever it is, it has its charm. The lower part, though, looks kinda weird…like it doesn’t belong with the rest of the “look”. I wonder who’s lived in it and what their stories are.
Some rich rancher who had the last name of Fulton and also has the town of Fulton named after him.
I helped paint and weather proof, as if the Texas sun understands the term, a mansion a little bit outside Tyler, TX in the mid 80′s. It was located in the heart of Tyler a Century before but fell into a state of disrepair. It was purchased by a forward think man and moved a few miles outside the town proper. I felt a great sense of honor in my little part of preserving history. Great capture Mike!
Thanks Jagged. Have not seen much of the Texas sun since we got down here, but I hear the summers are brutal, so I’ll stay in Colorado for that.

As a side note: If you get a chance to visit the River Walk in St Antonio do so. Peace!
Jagged, the river-walk does hold interest for me but it is 2 1/2 hours each way so that won’t be happening on this trip.
